2019 BLS Protocols Information

On April 12, 2019 the Statewide Basic Life Support Adult and Pediatric Treatment Protocols (2019 BLS Protocols) were released with the intention of them becoming effective on August 1, 2019. NYS sent out the attached letter with a revision to the implementation date.  Here is the link to the protocols:  https://www.health.ny.gov/professionals/ems/docs/bls_protocols.pdf

As part of the implementation process, after consulting with REMAC chair, Ann Teng, DO,  each EMS agency can adopt the protocols after:

1. Ensuring that all certified personnel have received proper training and education on new skills and procedures

2. Have completed the NYS DOH BEMS online 2019 BLS Protocol update (more information will be forthcoming from NYS- please note there is no cost for this)

3. Completed the regional protocol exam-scheduled to be available on our regional testing site by September 1 (more information to follow)

4.  Submit the agency attestation form to the program agency, after ensuring that all certified agency personnel have received training.

Regionally it is expected that all agencies transition to the 2019 BLS protocols by November 1, 2019. Updates will be posted on this website as more information is received.
