The Susquehanna Regional EMS Council is now accepting nominations for its annual Regional EMS Awards.
Agencies and individuals may nominate providers in the categories provided below. These awards parallel the New Your State Bureau of EMS awards, and the Regional Council may nominate the individuals nominated at the local level for this year’s New York State Awards.
Individual awards shall be based on a pattern of activities culminating in a significant improvement of Emergency Medical Services in the community. Applications for individual heroism may be based on a single unusual event that was beyond ordinary duty. All nominees must be affiliated with an EMS agency within the Susquehanna Region. Nominees should demonstrate dedication, responsibility, professional behavior, ingenuity, special skill, or insight into the EMS environment. Individuals must be credentialed to practice within NY State.
- BLS Provider will be awarded to individuals with CFR or EMT-B certification.
- ALS Provider will be awarded to individuals with AEMT, EMT-CC, or EMT-P certification.
- EMS Leader will be awarded to an EMS agency or local, county, or regional EMS leader. It can also be awarded to a medical/nursing/or career EMS leader.
- Youth Provider will be awarded to individuals under the age of 18.
- Educator of Excellence will be awarded to individuals who instruct at the CFR, EMT, or AEMT level.
- Communications Specialist will be awarded to individuals for performance as an EMS Dispatcher.
- Agency of the Year will be awarded to an agency that strives for consistency in EMS excellence and exhibits exemplary performance when providing or supporting prehospital emergency medical care.
- Excellence in EMS Quality and Safety is meant to recognize an individual or an agency for implementing a new practice or enhancement to their operations that improves the delivery of EMS in the community.
- RN and Physician awards are meant to recognize Registered Nurses and Physicians who have contributed to the EMS community in their respective roles.
Nominations must be received by March 1, 2025, and an award ceremony for selected recipients will be held later in the year. Not all categories will necessarily be awarded; sometimes, multiple awards may be presented. Nominations will be reviewed for merit.
